$10 1862-S PCGS AU58+

$72,500.00

Legend Numismatics has been involved in placing and selling some of the all time finest ever $10 pieces. At one time, Bob Simspon had the #1 set which we had purchased from David Hall. With the exception of the MS61 in the that set, we have never seen nor handled a coin above AU50. The piece offered here is not just a +. It clearly is a borderline tough graded SUPER HIGH END piece. By holder it is the second FINEST KNOWN graded. In reality, we believe it it tied for FINEST.

To start, this monster piece is ULTRA clean to the naked eye. Even using a strong glass, all ticks and lines you can find are so light or tiny calling them minor might be too harsh. The big surprise with this coin is the full booming and totally original luster it displays. Plus, this is not a dirty coin that has been scrubbed-its totally original. Both sides are a GEM original yellow gold color. There are NO discolorations or spots anywhere. Miss Liberty and all of the details are frosty and are fully struck. We are NOT exaggerating when we say its really hard to find any rub or wear. The eye appeal is sensational!

PCGS 2, NGC 1, CAC 1. This is the ONLY AU58+ graded by PCGS. We sold the lone MS61-the only PCGS piece graded higher (NOT CAC) back in 2015 for $134,000.00. Here is why this coin is such a good deal: it is really just about MS. If the MS61 were to CAC, we could see it going for $150,000.00+++ easily, but it is locked away in the #1 all time collection. There are NO accurate price guides for a coin this rare. Its a popular Civil War date as well. Heck, even the last AU55 sold in 2006!

The tremendous quality and rarity of this coin should not be taken for granted. Once this coin is sold, good luck finding any thing else remotely close that is CAC!
