Most important, this is NOT an AU58 in an MS61 holder. This is a real MS piece!
The surfaces are fairly clean overall. You need a glass to see a little planchet roughness and some light die clashing (as made). There are hints of prooflike mirrors. A strong luster does show off the white surfaces. There is a hint of gold around the stars. Miss Liberty and the details are frosty and have good strikes. The flatness you see on the eagle on the reverse is NOT wear-it lack of striking pressure resulting in a “weak spot”> VERY common on coins like this. The eye appeal is terrific!
PCGS 5, NGC 4, CAC 2. NO PCGS /CAC MS61’s have sold at auction. Also, keep in mind, this coin is closer to an MS62 than to an MS60! Opportunity knocks if you collect Early Bust Dimes!
