Way back when coins were raw, this coin easily would have traded as an MS65 GEM. We see no reason why PCGS did not at least grade the coin MS64+. Oh well!
The surfaces are unbelievably perfect. Even with a strong glass you will find NO impairments of ANY size, ANY where. There is a trace of semi-prooflike mirrors and a strong luster can be seen. A moderate and totally ORIGINAL mix of golden brown/reddish gold/deep pewter/pale olive colors evenly cover all of the surfaces. Miss Liberty and the details are clearly visible and stand out with sharp strikes. The eye appeal is fabulous!
PCGS 20, NGC 30, CAC 7 (There are only 2 beans higher)! The last one of these to sell in a major auction brought $4,406.00 10/12 Heritage. Fortunately, this is NOT an auction! We think the fact you can buy a GEM sharp looking coin from 1836-a piece that’s 177 years old for UNDER $5,000.00 is a great value! We doubt you will ever see large quantities of these found.
