1799 $1 Dollar Bust, Large Eagle PCGS AU55+ (CAC) B 17, BB 164

Is this an AU58? We do call it a GEM AU!

The obverse faces up really well with strong luster, even color, and is virtually mark free aside from a few light ticks in the right obverse field. The reverse is mark free with a booming satiny luster. This deeper silvery color coin was probably stored in a coin cabinet for decades with the reverse side down reducing atmospheric exposure. This coin was acquired in an NGC 58 holder and down crossed.

PCGS 124, NGC 85, CAC 10. PCGS has graded only 4 coins in AU55+. This is a rarer variety from a major collection.
