1837 10C Dime Liberty Seated, No Stars PCGS PR65 (CAC)
$55,000.00
Anytime we see one of these we like, we do buy it. However, the last time we owned one was in the early 1990s, and it was one of the 2 NGC PR67s. The great rarity of this coin cannot be overstated!
This is an unquestionable SUPER HIGH-END GEM. We see NO visible reason why this coin is not a PR65. It is clearly one of the nicer mirrored 1837 PRs we have ever seen. When you twirl the coin, the mirrors look like freshly made glass. There are NO visible imperfections on the flashy surfaces. A beautiful mix of deep pewter/pale purple/rose/blue colors all blend evenly on both sides. As expected, Miss Liberty and the details are needle-sharp in strike to the point you could possibly hurt yourself just by looking! The eye appeal is terrific!
Could you imagine what this piece would be worth if it were gold? We guess around $250,000.00. Only because it’s not gold and the fact that so many have been submitted for upgrades (a skewed pop report) that this coin is stupid cheap today. Try to find one (especially a really nice one)—you do not see them offered frequently.
ONLY 30 were minted! PCGS 3, NGC 2, CAC 3. This coin was last auctioned in 2021 for $45,600.00 and went straight into a collection. It’s been there since. The current Collectors Universe value is $55,000.00. Frankly, a coin looking like this and one of such rarity should be worth far more.
