1849 $1 Dollar Liberty Seated, No Motto PCGS MS64+ (CAC) A NEAR GEM EXAMPLE!

We purchased this piece out of an estate auction. Not only has it been off the market for many years, we do not recognize the coin either (we have seen just about all the higher grade MS STD’s-remember we built the all time finest ever set). No question this coin is HIGH END. And yes, we LOVE this coin too!

Remarkable surfaces are the epitome of cleanliness. They are also sleek and offer faint semi-prooflike mirrors. Scuffs and ticks are really non existent-even if you use a strong glass. A powerful booming luster beams from all over. There are light hints of original gold/pale auburn by the rims only. A line of the same can be seen on the reverse. The rest of the coin is an silvery white. Miss Liberty and the details are surprisingly sharply struck and do stand out. The eye appeal (especially for a big STD Dollar) is jaw dropping!

PCGS 18, NGC 18, CAC 2. CAC has only graded two finer). PCGS has graded just this coin in MS64+. Obviously there is no auction record for this coin as it has been off the market for many years. We never ever see these offered-especially a nice example of a date in the 40’s. Of course all the price guides are too low for most STD Dollars (including this one). If your looking for a near GEM STD or are building a set, this is your dream 1849 as the 2 coins higher are locked up in major collections for a very long time!
