The good thing is marks are held to a bare minimum even when using a strong glass. There is an original “skin” on this coin that is enlivened by a very decent luster (these do not come as glorious as other $2.5’s). Both sides are a deeper original gold color with some orange gold highlights. Miss Liberty and the details have more typical okay strikes. Many C mints like this were weakly struck. The eye appeal is really nice!
PCGS 13, NGC 10, CAC 3. CAC has beaned only 11 coins higher. The current price guides are not reality. We paid far more then what they show. You have too in todays market. It should be noted: the last PCGS CAC AU53 sold in auction in 2008. NO AU55 CAC’s have ever sold via auction (that we could find). That is a rare coin!
