1861 25C Liberty Seated, No Motto PCGS PR68CAM (CAC) NEWMAN-GARDNER-SIMPSON
$175,000.00
We have owned this MONSTER 2x. It is acknowledged to be the FINEST PR NO MOTTO quarter that exists. One look and you will not disagree. We rank the coin as SUPER HIGH END!
It is our strong opinion this coin is well deserving of a +, but we don’t want to lose the special insert.
Superior mirrors are a delight because they are both perfect and emit a strong blast. When you twirl the coin, the mirrors do have a bold, watery-like roll. An unbelievable ring of totally original neon deep blue/magenta/tangerine colors opens into creamy white centers on the obverse. The reverse has the same colors more by the peripheries. Miss Liberty and the details are fully struck and have thick, thick frost. The eye appeal is unquestionably memorable and just blows you away!
1000 were minted, but most had been melted due to poor sales. PCGS 1, NGC 0, CAC 1. This coin came out of Newman in an NGC holder for $188,000.00. It was bought by the late Gene Gardner at the time. After Gene’s passing, Legend bought it for Bob Simpson. Then when he sold his coins, it brought only $156,000.00. Fast forward to now, the coin became available at FUN, and Legend bought it outright.
It is our mission to find this “wonder coin” a long-term home. Since Newman owned it, it has become a bit of a weary traveler. Considering this IS universally agreed to be the FINEST No Motto Proof, doesn’t it deserve to be in a great collection for a very long time? We think so.
