1861-S $2.50 Gold Liberty PCGS AU58 (CAC) SUPERB!

No question this is a SUPERB GEM AU piece. We rank it SUPER HIGH END!

We have seen a few other examples of this date over the years. None come close to this coin. In our opinion, this coin is the NICEST by far. $2.5 Liberties have been forever favorite series of ours.

Overall, the surfaces have nothing more than a few tiny and widely scattered ticks and giggles (as we call them). You need a glass to see them. There is a surprising strong glowing luster all over. Both sides area GEM moderate yellow gold color. There are no flecks or discolorations. Miss Liberty and the details exhibit only super light even wear on the obverse and hardly any wear on the reverse. The eye appeal is fabulous!

PCGS 10, NGC 23, CAC 2. CAC HAS BEANED NONE FINER. This piece last sold in 11/2024 for $22,800.00. PCGS has not been paying attention to auction sales and thus ha an insanely low CU value. One thing is for sure. you can NOT buy a better CAC 1861S. A great coin to start any $2.5 Civil War era set with. The value of a coin like this will only keep rising as time goes on. We did not buy it out of the auction-we did pay more than what it sold for.
