1865 $3 PCGS AU-58

It’s no secret we are HUGE fans of $3 Gold pieces-especially the dates with lower mintages. 1865 has a whopping 1100 minted! Thats not much. This piece is a superb survivor! There is no visible wear. Traces of semi prooflike mirrors adorn both sides. There actually is a strong luster. Just a few teenie ticks are visible under a glass-the coin actually looks clean overall. The color is a beautiful original deeper gold. Miss Liberty and the details have exquisite strikes. Her cheek is clean and has no discoloration on the highpoint. Plus, the details are lightly frosted. This coin looks great! PCGS 15, NGC 15. NOTE: after 20+ years of certification, PCGS has graded only 9 coins in MS.
