1876 $1 Dollar Trade PCGS PR66CAM+ (CAC) SIMPSON

An “old friend” that we just adore. This coin was in our 04/2023 auction. It brought $30,550.00. The owner has decided not to pursue Proof Trade Dollars so hence, the coin is now available. Here is the description from the auction:

One of the FINEST examples of this uber-popular centennial year. Totally original and beautifully toned with splashes of blues, golds, oranges, with wonderful touches of purple, greens, reds, and yellows that pop when rotated in a light. Mirrors under the colorful toning are brilliant and boldly reflective, flashy and icy sleek that gives this SUPERB GEM a great look. The sharply struck devices (Type I obverse, Type II reverse) are thickly frosted and stand out in bold contrast to the surrounding fields. Amazingly well preserved and sublimely eye appealing, this coin really is of the utmost quality from a technical and aesthetic perspective. What a sensational coin for a date or type set!

PCGS 4, NGC 7, CAC 2. There are two in PR66+ CAM at PCGS; this is the only one to have sold in auction, realizing a record $31,200 in the April 2021 offering of the Bob R. Simpson Collection. Today the PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $37,500. Just a single PR67 CAM has graded higher at PCGS and that coin has never appeared in auction. This INCREDIBLE SUPERB GEM has a lot to be desired and will see very strong bidding when it crosses the block again. Good luck.
