1879/8 5C Nickel Shield PCGS PR67CAM (CAC)

This coin is a Yankee Doodle Dandy! No question it is SUPER HIGH END!

Superb GEM mirrors are really deep and make this coin border DCameo. Only when using a strong glass can you find a tiny lint mark hidden in the shield. The mirrors actually have a slight “watery” like roll. The contrast is bold. There are no spots. Every detail is needle sharp in strike and has thick frost.

PCGS 28, NGC NA, CAC 11. In 2020 and 2023 2 examples sold for $3,360.00. Seems cheap to us. The current Collectors Universe value is $3,500.00. It is our strong opinion, that GEM Proof Shield and Liberty Nickels are being overlooked in todays market and should be valued more-especially if they look like this coin!
