This is a HIGH END PR67 example of this date. It certainly is a “stopper” in the series!
Deep and clean mirrors have a strong reflection. They are also flawless(zero spots or flecks)) and have a superior clarity. The details are crisply executed. Both sides display a light and pretty original pastel iridescent patina. Miss Liberty and the details are pinpoint sharp in strike. The eye appeal is superb!
PCGS 6, NGC 12, CAC 4. This coin brought $7,200 in November 2017, OUCH! Sadly, the current PCGS value is only $5,500 (in our opinion, it should be $6,000.00). Keep in mind that in September 2019 in LRCA a 67+ sold for $15,275.00. You can not go out and find or buy another 1896 5C in PCGS CAC PR67 today. It is a fluke that values are so low. Of course this date is really rare in cameo. Opportunity does indeed knock loud here!
