This is a pleasing example of one of the rarest Large cent that exists. In AU 50 and higher, PCGS has graded a mere 5 coins in ALL colors! There are NO known MS coins. This is certainly one of the highlights of the Blue Lake offerings.
The surfaces are okay and offer no major problems. We do think this coin was lightly oiled years ago (something old time dealers frequently did to remove gunk). The color of the coin is a moderate brown/pale olive with a few dark patches spread around. Miss Liberty and the details are well struck. You do not need a glass to see the over date. The eye appeal actually is very pleasing.
PCGS 2, NGC 0, CAC 0. The last auction record for this grade was 10 years ago-2008. That coin brought $172,500.00. This coin has been off the market with the Blue Lake Collector for over 16 years. It should be noted in the recent Pogue sale a so/so AU55 brought $305,500.00 03/2017. Our price is more then reasonable.
The Blue Lake Collector especially wants this coin in a good home. We believe ANY collection that is the new keeper of this piece WILL be a great home! You certainly will NOT see another offered any time soon.
