1C 1811 PCGS MS65 RD S-287 POGUE

Legend Numismatics is proud to own and offer this magnificent totally GEM Mint red coin. It is the FINEST specimen for the Classic Head series. As far as we know, this is one of the earliest ORIGINAL GEM Mint red Cents that still exists (yes, there is a 1793 in RD). At one time, many years ago, this coin was in an NGC MS66 RD holder (we think we owned it way back when too).

This grand dame of the entire 1C Classic Head series is of remarkable quality. Struck on a problem free planchet, the surfaces are satiny smooth. There are NO problems of any size, any where. A surprising full cartwheel luster beams from all over. GEM original faded (and stable) Mint Red colors mix with a touch of pale olive by the rims (we remember this exact color scheme from 25 years ago). There are zero stains or discolorations. This coin was never oiled, brushed or messed with.  Miss Liberty and the details are fully struck save for some weakness in the left obverse stars. The eye appeal is terrific!

PCGS 1, NGC 0, CAC 1. This coin last sold for $493,500.00 03/2017. The current Collectors Universe Value is $500,000.00. A grand coin like this will always be expensive. Remember, this coin is the finest for a Type and one of the finest Large Cents that exists!

We are fortunate the current collector owner was eager to move into another area. So we are able to offer this once in a life time GEM at a great price. There is no collection on earth where this coin would not rank as a top highlight or star.
