1C 1843 PCGS PR64RB N-14 TWIN LEAF
Legends worst kept secret-we are deep down super copper weenies. Yes, we love early copper! When we first saw this coin, we feel in love! It has been with us a little while now, and we want to make sure it gets placed in a great home.
An impressive GEM proof large cent that displays exceptionally vibrant original color that the PCGS “RB” designation just does not do justice in describing! The obverse displays a sultry mix of violet-crimson-orange toning over highly reflective and icy smooth mirrored fields and razor sharp devices. The reverse fields show a rich teal-blue in the centers that blend with the rich reddish hues at the rims. Every detail in the hair, headband, beads, stars, leaves, lettering, and dentils are fully rendered and razor sharp. A minor toning spot and a few minute ticks will forever serve as pedigree markers for this impressive rarity. The N-14 is a Proof Only die marriage, and this is one of perhaps a dozen known examples. Listed as # 3 in the census, and is the Breen Proof Encyclopedia plate coin.
Estimated mintage: 15!!!! PCGS 3, NGC 1, CAC 2. You can offer to pay $50,000.00, we doubt any other example will be as nice as this! The Twin Leaf Collection, assembled over several decades contained an amazing assemblage of impressive proof large cents, each selected for quality and history. This near gem is a great example, with a provenance that goes back to the earliest years of the 20th century, and graced such amazing cabinets as Charles Zug, Henry Beckwith, William Morgan, James Macallister, T. James Clarke, Ted Naftzger, Twin Leaf. Now is your chance to add your name to this chain of illustrious numismatists of the past and own one heck of what we feel is a VERY UNDERvalued rarity!
Even though Proof Gold is considered the caviar of numismatics, we think Proof Early Copper like this-is in the same field.
