We live for monster coins like this! To own a coin from 1848-something that is 168 years old in such a perfect state of preservation is to us mind blowing! You can’t dream up a finer GEM Proof Large Cent. This coin has deep and surprisingly reflective mirrors (most are dull). There are ZERO impairments of any kind to be found anywhere (there is one teeny spot hidden in the right obverse). A wonderful totally original color mix of faded brown/magenta/blue colors (no, this coin was never messed with) swirl all over. Most impressive is the strike. It looks like this coin was carved out of a block or colored chocolate! The eye appeal is super! PCGS 1, NGC 1, CAC 1. This coin brought $35,250.00 in the Twin peaks sale. We were prepared to pay $40,000.00 hammer. Plus, this coin has Naftzger in its pedigree and you know that name stands for the ultimate in quality! In fact, its the ONLY PR66 graded in any color by PCGS. This is too great of a coin to be valued UNDER $50,000.00. Time will change that!
