1C 1883 PCGS PR67RB

What an outstanding HIGH END GEM coin. We have seen other pieces labeled red that make this look like a SUPERB RD color-even though it is a RB.

Where is the brown?! This coin displays a deep brick red color with highly reflective mirrors. While the color is not bright coppery-red like it just fell from the dies, there is no other color than RED on this coin; it is just toning down some. The dies were heavily polished, as evidenced by the richness of the mirrors and the frostiness of the reliefs. At certain angles you might actually think this SUPERB gem is a CAMEO.

PCGS 5, NGC 5, CAC 1.The last time one sold in auction was in the 2017 FUN auction, realizing $4,700. Previously a non-CAC coin with way more brown and blue toning realized nearly $5,600 in August 2014. This SUPERB GEM has much better eye appeal than that one, and should sell for more. The current Collectors Universe price is $6,250. None are graded numerically finer, although there is a single PCGS PR67 RD finer which has not sold in over a dozen years! This marvelous GEM  is the finest PCGS coin obtainable in the current market. Opportunity knocks loud here!
