Even though there is a 67+ graded, hands down this coin is one of the FINEST 1916 Matte Proofs inexistence. We rank this coin ULTRA HIGH END. We did resubmit it for a + (PCGS was ridiculous here-but we make NO promises). We can not see any reason why this coin is not a PR67+ RB. Frustrating.
In our opinion, this coin was never handled and sat totally undisturbed since it left the Mint.
This coin has some of the most FLAWLESS surfaces we have ever seen. We used a strong glass and looked over and over and found not even a microscopic tick. The matte texture is fantastic. There is a strong glowing luster. Both sides have totally original colors of faded Mint red/pale gold/light olive. There are zero spots or discolorations. Lincoln and every detail is needle sharp in strike. The rims are as thick as you will ever see. The eye appeal is awesome!
PCGS 4, NGC 3, CAC 2. There is only a 67+ graded higher. We paid strong for this coin because we grade it a 67+ (again, NO promises). It still an extremely rare coin in this condition. In GEM PR RED the top grade is 66 CAC).
Even if you are the worlds pickiest buyer, this coin will blow you away! Seeing it says it all.
