We used our fav term to best describe this coin: GEM AU! You just do not find many Civil War era coin so well preserved.
Both sides are of superior quality. The surfaces are extremely clean and smooth. There are NO traces of this coin ever being dipped or messed with. A slight luster shows of totally ORIGINAL shades even gold color. There are NO Spots. Miss Liberty and the details are sharply struck. The eye appeal is really nice!
PCGS 17, NGC 27, CAC 3. Do not be fooled by the pops, NICE examples are impossible (not just hard to come by). NO PCGS CAC coin has ever sold at auction.
