We would bet that in days before PCGS at some point this coin was sold as a “choice Unc”. It certainly does have an MS look. We do call this coin a GEM AU58.
Only microscopic ticks are scattered about. There are NO serious hits or scuffs anywhere. Even using a strong glass there are no surprises. A for a 25-D, this coin has a seriously above average luster. It is a full cartwheel type which beams boldly from all over. Both sides are a GEM original even gold color with some orange gold highlights. There are NO spots or stains. Miss Liberty and the details are well struck. All wear is light and is even. The eye appeal is superb!
PCGS 20, NGC 4, CAC 3. The last AU 58 to sell in a major auction-was back in the year 2000! We think this coin represents a tremendous value. It will fit nicely even into an MS set. And most important, its looks far better then its grade!
