$3 1854-D PCGS AU55 CAC

$61,500.00

In our opinion, having built a former #1 set of $3, we conclude this coin to be VERY HIGH END and a GEM AU. This date is famous for coming horribly struck, on a bad planchet, and most are found messed with these days. This coin stood out to us like a jewel! Outstanding surfaces are not abused, whacked up, or have any real problems. A very  decent luster can be seen all over. Both sides are a moderate gold color with a blush of original film (proves the originality). There are NO spots or discolorations. All wear is light and is even. Miss Liberty and the details are well struck. The eye appeal is superb! PCGS 22, NGC 18, CAC 6. It is critical to note, PCGS has graded only 13 coins higher of which only 5 are beaned. CAC has beaned a grand total of 18 for the entire date (all grades). More important, save for the Pouge MS62 that sold in 2016, ALL of the coins graded higher have NOT had any auctions sales for as long as 17 years! So chances of finding a better one are extremely slim. The last one Legend owned was back in 2013-and we sold it for $58,000.00. Have not owned one since (and we ALWAYS look). If you are building any kind of $3 set, this is a “must see” and mostly like a “must buy”.
