$3 1855S PCGS AU58

Legend Numismatics has always LOVED $3 gold pieces. We have studied them for years and built one ot the top sets (Simpson). It was a huge surprise to us to find this date was definately a “silent stopper”. It is virtually unknown in MS. So when we saw this wonderful coin-we had to own it! The surfaces offer a superb appearance. To the naked eye they appear clean and smooth. There are even faint hints of semi-prooflike mirrors. Only with a strong glass can you find a few light lines/microscopic ticks. a surprising strong luster beams from all over. The color is a pretty yellow gold with some splashes of orange. There are NO spots or discolorations. Miss Liberty and the details are well struck. The eye appeal is great! ONLY 6600 were ever minted. PCGS 8, NGC 11, CAC 2. PCGS has graded only 2 coins finer (the highest is a MS62+ which is now impounded in major collection). Here is an important fact: prior to this coin selling, the last PCGS piece to sell at auction brought $19,550.00 08/2004!We can’t stress enough how extremely rare this date and grade are. If you buy only TRUE QUALITY gold pieces, this could be your only chance for a 55S for a very long time!
