$3 1864 PCGS AU53

A great date from one of our all time favorite series. The quality of this piece is VERY nice!

Nothing worse than a few LIGHT and stray lines can be detected with a strong glass. The surfaces are lightly prooflike near the peripheries and are smooth in the centers. The color is a deep gold. There are NO discolorations or stains. Miss Liberty and the details are very well struck. The eye appeal of this piece is nice!

Only 2630 were ever minted. Keep in mind, in 1864 we were right smack in the middle of a major Civil War. So having lots of survivors seems slim. PCGS 20, NGC 10, CAC 1 (note: CAC so far has green beaned a total of only FOUR coins for the date-in all grades). The last one to appear in major public auction sold for $4,600.00 06/08 Heritage. Opportunity knocks loud here!
