$3 1885 PCGS AU53
Not a date or grade you see offered a lot these days.
Typical to most of these low mintage $3’s, this piece is strongly prooflike and exhibits a strong luster. The surfaces are clean overall but do have some hidden lines. There are NO spots or discolorations. The color is a deeper orange gold. Miss Liberty and the details are well struck. The wear is minimal and does not distract. The eye appeal is excellent!
PCGS 4, NGC 7. The last one of these to sell in a major public auction brought $4,370.00 1/08 Stacks. We think its a pretty clear signal as to how hard to find these are if one has not appeared in auction for a year and half!
