We don’t find very nice early gold pieces like this very often. In fact, the only reason we could buy it, a collector sold us his duplicates. Thank you Islander!
The obverse is a lock 62 while we grade the obverse a 63 (ins’t that how it usually is?). There are a few light ticks and scuffs visible. None are deep or really detract. A strong luster beams from all over. Both sides are evenly color a totally original deeper yellow gold. There are NO spots or discolorations. Miss Liberty and the details are sharply struck and do have light frost. The eye appeal is excellent!
PCGS 54, NGC 43, CAC 13. This coin was purchased by the collector we bought it from for $24,675.00 07/2013. He is now collecting other areas and felt it was time to move on. We promised him we would try our best to place it in a good home.
This is the first one of these Legend has ever handled. Don’t let the pops fool you, these are very hard to find really nice!
