$5 1844D PCGS MS64

This coin is unquestionably the FINEST KNOWN for the date. Unlike so many, it has NOT been stripped, recolored, or messed with. Legend Numismatics is pleased to own and offer this marvelous coin to our customers.

To start, know that CAC does not affix its sticker to just any coin. With so many messed with D Mint pieces, this coin is truly a stand out. to the naked eye the surfaces show no problems. Only under a strong glass will you see a few trivial lines and ticks. Semi-prooflike mirrors add to the coins intense luster. The color is a light yellow gold. Miss Liberty and the details are pinpoint sharp in strike and have amazing light frost. The eye appeal is every bit as nice as a high end non D would be.

The grand rarity of this date and grade can not be exaggerated. Many were known to have been lost in ship wrecks. And due to the crudeness of the strikes (and of course heavy circulation), many simply never survived in high grade or even MS. We think a coin like this should be at least $75,000.00 in todays market place. Where are you really going to find another graded by PCGS and stickered by CAC? You are not. And last, Dalonega was one of two confederate Mints that are now long gone. So to find a coin so pristine from an obsolete Mint, is really a treasure.
