$5 1851-D PCGS AU55

Typically we do not handle many coins like this. When we see a stand out piece like this, obviously we buy them. First, we must note at one point in time this piece was lightly dipped. Overall, the coin has minimal ticks scattered around both sides. Some luster does beam around. The color is a bright yellow gold. As is typical for most D Mints, the strike is semi flat-but not pancake flat. The eye appeal actually is very pleasing! PCGS  21, NGC 24, CAC 4. NO PCGS CAC piece in AU55 has ever been sold via auction. A PCGS NON CAC did sell for $4,230.00 in 03/2017. With gold like this, there is that much difference with a bean.
