These are so wicked cool to begin with. Our hearts fluttered when we saw his amazing piece. It is NOT beat up or clean like so many we see. We always try and buy these when they look this awesome!
Outstanding surfaces display nothing more then scattered and light ticks. There is an impression or two on the outer rim-but that does not take away from the grade. Most important, the reverse has only minor ticks and the design is well intact. There actually is a surprising luster that can be seen. Both sides are an “old time” gold color. There are NO spots or discolorations. The details are extraordinary well struck to the point the eagle almost looks 3-D. The eye appeal is beautiful!
PCGS 6, NGC 1, CAC 2. In all of the AU grades, CAC has beaned only 9 coins total. The last time ANY AU50 sold at auction, was way back in 2002. In our orbit, 16 years was forever ago. Think about that, no AU50-55’s have been sold via auction really in the past decade! The last AU 55 to sell was back in 2010. The last AU55+ to sell was a PCGS CAC piece and brought $230,000.00. No question these true Wild West coins are VERY rare.
There is no such thing as a cooler coin! Ever hold one of these? This will be an awesome addition to ANY collection!
