This coin was originally an NGC AU55. It is VERY HIGH END-but in the right holder now! This is one of the nicest circ 1797 Halves that still exists!
Amazing surfaces are clean and smooth. Only if you use a strong glass can you see a microscopic tick or two and a line or two. There is a light hint of luster. Both sides enjoy beautiful original colors of olive/gold/pale blue/pale reddish gold that mix with openings of pewter/silver. Miss Liberty and the details are well above average in strike. No question this coin has not been messed with. For whatever reason many of the 1797’s have been (we have seen more of these retooled. The eye appeal is jaw dropping gorgeous!
PCGS 3, NGC 1, CAC 1. This coin last sold as an NGC piece in 2017 for $168,000.00 out of Newman. The current Collectors Universe Value is $225,000.00. It should be noted, there is only 1 PCGS AU58 CAC. That coin last traded in 2010 and is tucked away on a major collection.
