50C 1845 PCGS PR64 CAMEO

$55,000.00

Very HIGH END quality. We admit, we bought it out of our own sale and resubmitted it seeking a +. Oh well, PCGS held firm. Awesome watery mirrored fields are awash in gold and azure hues, with accents of coppery-orange. A superbly struck and beautifully preserved coin that in the “old days” would have been considered a GEM. A strong glass reveals minor hairlines but nothing too distracting. Miss Liberty and the details are frosted and have crisp full strikes. The eye appeal is fabulous! PCGS 1, NGC 0, CAC 1. Estimated LESS then a dozen were ever minted, with Coin Facts estimating only 8 are known (one is tied up in the Smithsonian). Prior to realizing $49,937.00 in our May Regency Sale, this coin realized $47,000.00 back in early $2013 and $57,500.00 in 2012. This is the only CAMEO of the date graded, and highly desirable as such.  The current PCGS Price Guide value is $55,000 and when compared to other major rarities this just seems very reasonable. If you collect extremely rare early proofs, here is an opportunity that should not be missed. Got stuff or junk? Trade them for this rarity-we’ll work with you!
