Deep and vividly glittering mirrors have never been dipped. You can see they have great depth, clarity, cleanliness, an of course bold reflectivity. They look like a freshly made sheet of glass. A rich but totally ORIGINAL band of navy covers the rims/stars and opens into deep silvery centers. Miss Liberty and the details are needle sharp in strike and boldly stand out with a thick bright silver frost. The eye appeal is wonderful!
ONLY 460 pieces were ever minted. PCGS 4, NGC 2, CAC 2. This is NOT a common proof by any definition. This coin last sold in auction back 1/11 for $8,050.00 (prior 2 that, there were only 3 total auction appearances for ANY 1863 PR65 CA). Just look at what 1864+1865’s sell for. It would sell for a lot more today!
