50C 1894 PCGS MS66+
$15,500.00
Had this been in the recent Stacks sale, it probably would have brought $20,000.00 easy! Demand for A SUPERB GEM MS Barber like this is apparently stronger than even we realized (an 1897 PCGS MS66 CAC brought 12,925.00, and that is POP 10 in MS66).
This coin just oozes HIGH END quality all over!
Sensational smooth and super clean surfaces have a light satiny texture. The ONLY reason PCGS won’t call this an MS67 is a light bagmark that’s HIDDEN on the trunk of the neck. Technically, the quality is all there and then some. A killer full booming luster shows off totally ORIGINAL heart pounding colors of blue/green by the rims which open into lighter tangerine/pale violet in the centers. Miss Liberty and the details are exceptionally struck and have generous frost. The reverse is full MS67 quality. The eye appeal is fabulous!
PCGS 6, NGC 7, CAC 4. PCGS has graded only a regular MS67 and a MS67+ higher. This is the ONLY MS66+. The last PCGS MS66 to sell at auction brought $8,625.00 (12/12 Legend-Morphy), while the last MS67 PCGS/CAC sold brought $29,900.00 (8/11 Heritage). This coin will make a terrific addition to any GEM set.
