50C 1897 PCGS PR68 DCAMEO EX COL GREEN/NEWMAN

SUPER ULTRA HIGH END! Even though there are one or two PR69 Barber Halves out there (for the series), we unhesitatingly rank this coin equal to them while calling it by far one of the best in existence! We cannot understand why PCGS at the very least did not + this wonder GEM. Incredible true ultra deep mirrors blaze (not just beam) from all over. The mirrors are also crystal clear and have zero imperfections of any size. If you use a strong glass to hunt for issues, you’ll wish you could strap on a pair of skates and just glide across the ice like surfaces. The reflection of this coin is intense and we suggest you wear Ray Bans when you view the coin. There is a monster original band of reddish gold/blue/violet that frames the peripheries. Miss Liberty and the details look like they were sculpted from a fresh block of ice. The strikes are needle sharp. The eye appeal of this coin is beyond anything you will ever see! Only 731 were minted. PCGS 5, NGC 14, CAC 4. This coin brought $27,025.00 in the Newman Sale in an NGC holder back in November 2013. We did have it in our Feb 18th 2016 sale where it failed to meet reserve. Nothing remotely similar has appeared on the market since then. That includes the 1897 PCGS PR68 DC that just sold in the Dallas ANA Sale for $29,375.00. This is where you have to know: there are PR68 DCAM’s and then there is THIS PR68 DCAM! The only reason this coin is for sale, the owner is well into another kind of Barber set: MS (yes there actually is someone out there doing that)!
