McCLAREN COLLECTION. This is a very pleasing example of one of the tougher “short set” dates. Either the strikes are weak or the coins are toned and have no life. In the McClaren Collection, we have had an unusual amount of really nice examples.
This coin is frosty white and has an intense luster like a 1944 P! The surfaces are clean and have no major problems. Miss Liberty is above average in strike. The eye appeal is terrific!
PCGS 2349, NGC 1160, CAC 31. NOTE: to date, we have had several MS66 1944S from the set, and only one has stickered at CAC!
