G $1 1856-S PCGS AU 58 SS CENTRAL AMERICA

No question even though it has been under the sea for 100+ years, this coin is a GEM AU. In fact, if we did not know where it came from, we’d say  it looks as good as ANY AU58 1856S! We do consider this a near miss MS coin! Remarkable surfaces show little effects from 100+ years of salt water or damage from any restoration work. Overall, the surfaces are extremely clean save for a few Mint made die clashing lines. A surprising luster does beam boldly from all over. Both sides are a brilliant yellow gold color. Of course there are no spots or discolorations anywhere. Even more surprising is the strike. EVERY detail is actually pinpoint sharp in strike. There is no real visible rub. The eye appeal is great! PCGS 6 (ship wreck), PCGS 36 (regular no ship wreck NGC 70 . There were 22 finer found in the ship wreck. CAC has beaned 13 total. These are not commoner by any stretch. The last regular NON Ship wreck to sell brought $5,640.00 01/2015-a known weak auction. Its been 3.5 years and still clocking without other CAC coins selling via auction.
