J-1602 50C 1879 PCGS PR66 RB
$27,500.00
This is a R-7 (4-12 known) Morgan Half Pattern struck in copper. What an AWESOME looking ULTRA HIGH END coin!
No question this coin is ULTRA HIGH END end quality. Why PCGS did not + it, we do not know. Superior deep, crystal clear, clean, and highly reflective mirrors (unusual for copper) adorn both sides. A strikingly beautiful mix of totally ORIGINAL tan/gold/pale brown/pale blue colors swirl all over. In fact, at first glance you would not believe it was struck in copper. Miss Liberty and the details are sharply struck (the weakness in the hair is “as struck”) and have generous frost. The eye appeal is like the quality-jaw dropping! It is VERY hard to stop twirling this coin and put it down.
PCGS 1, NGC 1, CAC 1. The Judd book estimate PR65’s to be worth $22,000.00. This coin is tied with the Simpson coin for FINEST RB (Simpsons is slightly darker). We can not stress enough the extreme rarity of this pattern-especially in copper. If your building a world class Pattern Type set, love the Morgan designs, or just outrageous LOVE Patterns, this is one special piece you want to place in your collection. Its highly unlikely you will ever have the chance to buy a similar piece. In the recent Newman sale, he had only a yucky PR64RB (and we mean yucky). That coin brought only $8,812.00. Take our word on it, this magnificent piece is worth substantially more!
