J-1654 $1 1880 NGC PR-64

This is an R-7 with only 4-12 estimated to have been minted. What’s really cool, it that its basically an over sized Stella.

We really do not see why NGC did not grade this coin PR65. Its got clean, crisp, clear, and flashy mirrors. Both sides have an even moderate mix of pewter/blue/pale golden brown colors that are lively, not dull. Miss Liberty and the details are sharply struck and do stand out. Everything about this coin is (especially the quality) is exceptionally attractive. PCGS 1, NGC 3. There is an old auction record of $9,900.00 for one from 1994! We think this piece is a safe and great value.
