This special metal compostion Flying Eagle Large Cent is an R-8 (2-3 Known). Plus, the coin is VERY high end.
We think PCGS kept the grade low because the coin is some what weakly struck. Regardless, everything about this coin looks like it should be graded higher. The surfaces are amazingly clean-and only reveal MINT MADE clash marks. There actually are light and flashy probolem free mirrors on both sides. ALL of the details are weak in strike but have NO problems. The eye appeal is actually gorgeous and flashy!
PCGS 1, NGC 0, CAC 1. The extreme rarity of this coin can NOT be overstated. The last one of these to sell at a major public auction before this coin brought $4,600.00 in 2004. PCGS has only ONE finer and that is now in our BRS Legeacy collection-the all time finest every assembled. This is most likely your only chance at owned a J-171A.
