NO QUIET TIME HERE TO ENJOY THE WEATHER
Our fear was with the weather getting nicer and more people being vaccinated, coins would be pushed off to another time. NOT! It seems the train is still rolling-and rolling hard!
We had very decent web based sales this past week. Our biggest sale was the $20 1857-S CENTRAL AMERICA PCGS MS67 CAC. Much to our surprise, even stronger sales came from Want List transactions. With no shows, we are still managing to get a coin or two (like a beautiful 25C 1894 PCGS PR67+ Cameo CAC). Our Want List is still hovering around $20,000,000.00. There are so many coins we still need-HELP!
We see no immediate end in sight for the markets strength. The coin market is long overdue for a few good years. With all the money made in the word during covid, it has to go somewhere. Bitcoin is having an unprecedented run. The stock market is at record levels, and people feel good about their collectables. We see many people “cleaning” up their collections and or starting new ones. We have several major NEW collectors we are working with. The beauty of each-they get it. They spent the time and did their homework and are building collections that are not only beautiful but should be very profitable in time.
Happy days for the coin world really are here again!
A final comment: if you thrive on the thrill of the hunt, there has never been a better time to start a collection. Coins certainly are not growing on trees!
GOLD
Okay, we are waiting too. We think that darn bitcoin mania drew some money away from gold. However, the wisdom is that even if bitcoin still grows gold will only become more valuable. They can only do so much with bitcoin. And it is too far away to be a “safe haven” like gold.
Gold has been creeping back up. The supply of ALL gold coins-including generics is virtually nil. We could not sell you even 5 MS64 Saints! We know people are still buying circ gold like crazy-if they can find some. ALL better gold coins are pretty much fought over if they are in auction. We do not see many Types of gold (like a Bust $10) being offered anymore.
Our suggestion, sell your stuff gold as the premiums are still good. But try to buy the better gold. Those coins will go up based on pure supply and demand vs the spot price. We wish we had a crystal ball as to when gold will break $2,000.00 again (we are confident it will be soon).
