WE HAVE RUN OUT OF NEWPS

LEGEND NUMISMATICS HAS RUN OUT OF NEWPS

We kid you not when we send out mass emails telling you how much we need coins. Time has caught up with us, we are totally out of NEWPS! We never in a million years thought this could happen.

Of course what is available are things like a scattered PCGS CAC MS66 Saint for way too much, or lowly Merc dime in 64, or some kind of non CAC widget, and everything we do not really want. Gone are the times when we’d spend $250,000.00 in a weekend and have all kinds of goodies to offer. ALL of our sources are dry.

If you have coins to sell, call or email us. We pay strong  for the current market-not fantasy prices.

We (like everyone else) are going to the PCGS Invitational this week to buy (will be there Tue and Wed). We doubt there will be many coins for sale. Of course if there is, we’re behind the crackout guys and probably won’t get a shot at too much. Frustrating, but we’ll try extra hard.

Constantly, we stretch to buy. We are NOT cheap or product buyers. Its impossible to pay more then a crazed crack out dealer.

It has to be a sure sign of the strength in the market when we run bone dry of NEWPS. Its not just the cheaper coins we can’t find. We can’t remember the last time we had a GEM MS 65 PCGS CAC Bust Half or a Choice TYII $20 Lib PCGS CAC of course. Today, if we could even post 4 NEWPS (vs the 20 we used too), we’d be thrilled. We are actually concerned for the future of Legend if we do not find coins. Our expenses go up because we are traveling and even advertising much more to find coins. There could be some hard times coming up here for us-and possibly even the marketplace if coins don’t start significantly trading.

WHAT TO DO

Because we do not have NEWPS does not mean we do not have cool coins. We are stumped as to why the 10C 1942/1-D PCGS MS66FB CAC did not fly out in week 1. Ditto the $20 1920-S PCGS MS63-a serious key date (just like in Morgans, most collectors fail to buy the key dates in a good grade). When coins like this get sold, good luck replacing them.  Do NOT expect any price reductions in this market.

Since “stuff” is at such strong premiums, we suggest you sell or trade into better coins. Do note that there are certain coins that will always be “cash” coins (meaning any one would write a check) and dealers might not want to trade for them.

Suggested areas to collect:

Type sets-especially gold. Here you can pick what coin you want for inclusion.

We are still bullish on ALL Proof Barbers 64-68 all denomenations. For the life of us, we do not understand why these have been so depressed. You can complete sets of them.

3CN Proofs. A grossly overlooked and completable series. A perfect series if you are contrarian.

Commems with pretty color. Generally 66-67 pieces. We see a growing base of collectors for them.

GEM Gold Commems. They have become too cheap.

A box of 20. Its an interesting concept. Here too, the coins to be included are of your choice. To make the concept work, the coins must be either exceedingly rare or of monster quality.

There is still plenty of time to buy. One of our well placed associates feels that coins had a couple of bad years and are now starting a huge rebound. We originally thought the bullish type market was good only around FUN. Were we ever wrong!  You just have to be patient and wait for the coins to pop up. Do NOT think hard when they do or you will lose them in the blink of an eye.

If your seeking financial rewards from buying coins do this: BUY THE BEST QUALITY YOU CAN  AFFORD. Buy PCGS CAC. Be prepared to hold for many years (coins are cyclical). Do NOT expect to generate profits from recent purchases,

A INTERESTING NOTE: We see some pressure on the bubble of baseball cards. Certain mid range cards seem to have slithered down a bit in value. We think the upcoming Tampa estate collection (w/a GEM Mickey Mantle) for sale should produce world record prices-for the top cards ONLY. Mid range ones, not so much. Looks like the days of busting open a pack and being rich are coming to a gradual end. We shall see.

Last, nice to see gold starting to rebound. As we said, give it time. We are still bullish on building Gold Type sets. Loved reading this: A JPMorgan report showed large institutional investors were dumping bitcoin in favor of gold. The news raised questions about institutional support for the cryptocurrency. People are finally waking up!

A CONGRATS TO HEDGIE-AKA HALF DOME

Finally! We are starting to post his collections on the registry. His Saints are now current #1 in St. Gaudens $20 Gold with Major Varieties, Circulation Strikes (1907-1932). And there are several higher grade pieces still to be posted (like a 30S in MS66+). We do not know why Simpson is not posted. He is NOT selling his Saints We think its pretty cool to have built the #1+2 Saint Sets).

Congrats to Hedgie! We will be posting his other 20th Century gold sets shortly. We are extremely proud of the work we have done for Hedgie. Also, his sets are all PCGS CAC-a remarkable feat!
