Much to our total shock, the ANA Midwinter was a monster show. EVERY single dealer of our caliber we spoke too had one of their top shows ever (for any show). HUH? We did not think many people would attend. Colorado Springs is hard to get to. We were right on that. BUT the crowd who did show up-came with wide open check books to buy. And buy they did. Our “super-secret stealth seller” had his 3rd best show ever. He did nearly 3/4 of a million dollars in sales! WOW! He said dealers even came back for a second time to try and buy at the end of the show. Other dealers we spoke to said people couldn’t find gold, so they actually were buying some Type. Dealers are as desperate as ever for coins. We WILL for sure be in Baltimore. Hope that’s just as hot. Really can’t see demand softening until maybe mid April (tax time).
Have prices moved up? ONLY IN CERTAIN AREAS. Better date MS Saints have seen an influx of new buyers. Those are up at least 20% from the beginning of the year (BETTER DATES ONLY). You can still buy lots of silver Type really cheap though. Its just not an area that is hot. This is a very selective Market.
The old days of going to shows and passing on a coin or two because of a tick or whatever is over. Pass on a coin and its usually gone within an hour or faster. Even if the coin is overpriced they sell quick. There are really that few GEM coins to find for sale out side of auctions. We all know in auctions your in a competition and the better coins for sure are not selling cheap these days.
All this while very bad for Legend (our sales are way off due to no supply) proves the coin market has clearly expanded with so many coins being in so many strong hands. It’s definitely a great time to sell.

We still have a $20 million dollar Want List. We fill it maybe a coin at a time these days-and the coins we are getting are not the juicy ones (which seem to go to auctions). We can’t compete with our own customers and all we can do is hope to rep people-which is way below our regular margins. Our biz is seriously drifting off. Last year at this time, if we sneezed we’d have a million dollar sale. This year, we can’t shake a tree.
Legends biggest worry: the lack of coins we need will break us. Right now we need all the BETTER $10 Indians and $20 Saints PCGS CAC ONLY we can get. We can use better dollars too-like a 97S PCGS MS67 CAC WHITE. Of course we need BETTER DMPL’s-PCGS MS65 and better CAC ONLY. GEM WHITE BETTER PEACE DOLLARS are on the list too. MUST BE CAC.
This is the time to sell! Take some profits. Get some cash to be ready for your next buy. Do know, not every thing is hot-PR Barber 25C Sadly are not hot. Nor are Bust 25C. But GOLD is.
We can’t even buy a PCGS CAC MS65 High Relief! We can’t buy so many things our heads are exploding! We’ve placed hundreds of millions of great coins over the years. We sure could use them back! For sure NOW is a sellers market (for the right coins).
