What a great coin! This piece is from the duplicate set from the collection. We unhesitatingly rank this GEM as SUPER HIGH END!
PCGS showed no mercy here. When we crossed it, we were thinking PR65+ (NO promises). Only when using a strong glass and really snooping around could you see a few light lines. The disturbance in front of Miss Lobs nose IS ON THE HOLDER (a new holder too). When you twirl the coin, the mirrors have a deep watery like roll. The contrast is really strong. There is a crescent of blue near the rims while the rest of the coin is silvery. ALL colors are totally original. Miss Liberty and the details are not only heavily frosted, they are fully struck. The eye appeal is mesmerizing!
PCGS 31, NGC 21, CAC 9. We could not find ANY records of any PCGS CAC 1880 selling via auction. The price guides are useless here. We used auction records of similar coins to figure a fair price. Keep in mind, this coin has been off the market for 25+ years! Also, this coin has never been messed with and it is not darkly toned like so many are.
