BETTER THAN EXPECTED-SUMMER FUN

THE WHOLESALE SIDE

The summer FUN Show is typically half the size of the January show. Sometimes we skip it. This year we went because we knew dealers were flocking to it. One very wealthy dealer was using the dealer systems trying to buy a table and offering a substantial reward. We don’t know how he did. We just knew it would be a very good show. Our results way surpassed our expectations!

We were nervous and disappointed that 2 of our 4 big buyers bailed on the show. We did call in 2 replacements and BOOM! Bet they bought as much or more than the other ones would have. The dealer we love to give the first shot to did something we never experienced: he started looking through one box and said, “Just price them all.” He ended up buying 2/3 of the box! He went on to buy six figures’ worth. We had a very long and successful day.

Wednesday, we knew that if we stayed at the convention center we might do some business. Our super secret stealth seller went there at 7 AM. We knew if we sat in the couches behind him we’d see some dealers. First let us tell you he was swamped. At one point he must have had 6 dealers looking! He told us one dealer said he had pretty much sold out and needed to restock. That’s pretty powerful. So as we opened for biz, a dealer we know very well asked to look at our coins. He pulled several coins out of the boxes. We could not believe he bought a $200,000.00 coin from us! WOW! We ended up having a great summer FUN both buying and selling. Unexpectedly, we sold nearly $500,000.00! That was crazy. And now at home, we are also sending out $500,000.00 in awesome coins we picked up for Want Lists at the show (that was very unexpected). The hottest area was still gold. You couldn’t find much and everyone wanted to buy. Surprisingly, Type was very strong too. We received some nice coins only because of long standing relationships (and those coins were spectacular).

Because Laura became ill from the heat and humidity (remember she is on strong medication from her kidney transplant), the crew decided to go home early. We apologize for not having any Legend representatives at our table (we let our buddies use it). We promise, the whole crew WILL be attending ANA and WILL be there for the show!

Isn’t this something? All this action and the show had not even opened yet! Because we left early, we can’t really discuss the actual show crowd or what they are doing. We hope to hear from our table mates, but they are not answering our texts (guess theya re busy).

We only have a small handful. We never got into the show to buy. What the dealers had outside (except for one) was minimal.

You’ll find several more pieces from the Naples Collection of $5 Indians—the #2 set on the registry (we have decided to slowly release the coins so as not to overwhelm collectors). We had brought a small handful of commoner pieces from the set, and the dealers were all over them. Take our word for it; they paid way above the published prices. Something needs to happen about that issue. Just be aware that certain coins, especially better GEM gold, are very strong, and dealers are paying above what is published. We know we must do the same and are willing to pay those prices.
