THE END OF FEBRUARY REPORT

THINGS ARE SLOWLY COMING BACK

The pain and suffering some of felt for the past few months is finally easing. That is not a hyped statement, it is reality. We strongly believe it took the weakness of the Pogue Sale to finally clear the air and end the denial. Once that rubber band broke, it seemed many people stepped back, took deep breaths, and said okay, I’m going to look for good deals.

While the really big ticket coins are now officially in a slump, we can report with full confidence that smaller value coins (up to $10,000.00) recently have enjoyed a reboot of demand. We have not only seen this in our sales, but we are clearly seeing strong demand by numerous dealers as well. Our own “stealth sellers” are reporting they are selling huge amounts of cheaper and can’t keep up w/the demand.

We also attribute this change in the wind to the fact the stock market has been more stable, oil prices have firmed, gold prices have risen, and people clearly see many prices have become too cheap. Today we are posting a PR66 PCGS CAC Barber Dime. We were bullish on them at $2,200.00. You don’t think they are aren’t a steal at $1,500.00? Collectors are less fearful of the down sides of coins. Could a PR66 CAC Barber Dime go to $1,000.00? Anything is possible- but very unlikely. Its not like you can go to a major show and see dozens of PR66 Barbers (of any kind) just littering dealers tables. In fact, as we mentioned before, in Las Vegas dealers were looking to buy Proof Type for the first time in ages. Be smart, even though supplies are very limited, do NOT wait for the herd to buy. You want to sell to them! This goes for ALL areas of the market.

Legend and Legend Auctions will have a table at the Dallas ANA Midwinter show. Lets do some biz!

GOLD

Anyone have any better and interesting PCGS CAC Gold for sale? We’re being offered everything but what we really need (we would use 3 $20 GEM PR Libs PCGS CAC (of course). This week we slightly bumped up our generic bids. We have not bought any really special gold coins in what seems like ages (out side of Pogue).  The demand is extraordinary if the coins are of better quality and are all there. Last week we mentioned we wholesaled a $2.5 1796 Stars PCGS AU58 in Vegas (a $150,000.00 coin). We had THREE real buyers for that coin pop up. The coin however had some issues, which was why we wholesaled it. The rare gold coin market over all still has VERY strong demand-for the right coins. Generics are still cheap, but demand is picking up as people see gold prices strengthening.

We especially looking for ALL EARLY BUST GOLD AU55 and higher, any AU or higher $2.5 1848 CAL, $20 GEM PROOF LIBS 65 CAMEO, DCameo and higher, and GEM BETTER DATE SAINTS MS65 and higher (still looking for that 27S $20 MS64 or higher). ALL COINS MUST BE PCGS CAC. Call or email George Huang with what you have. Sorry, we will not buy any coins sightunseen (unless they are generics at our bids).

Legend still HIGHLY recommends building Gold Type sets. That way YOU can pick what YOU want included. You won’t face the pressures of registry rat races and you can buy the coins as they become available that fit your parameters. After that, we think $2.5 Indians are stupid cheap at today’s levels. You can build a very choice set in MS64 for UNDER $50,000.00. Or, you can do a P Mint 1900-1908 $5 Liberty set in GEM. There are MANY opportunities at today’s lower prices! Call or email us to get started.

Of course there are many other neat coins to be posted. We do not expect to have all the NEWPS posted until late Saturday. We’ll work hard to get you into the coin of your desires!

LEGEND RARE COIN AUCTIONS

What a week we had. We sent out a record numbers of packages to winning bidders. We also (for the first time ever) had multiple collectors contact us after the sale to see what else could be purchased (normally we get one or two). This kind of activity proved to us, there is still a healthy coin market out there.

NOW is the time to consign to our May 18th Sale to be held in conjunction with the PCGS Invitational in New Orleans. We already have some great coins consigned. Until the coins are in house, all we can say is we are currently working on some block buster consignments!

It does not matter if it is one coin or a million dollar plus collection like the Coronet Collection of Morgans was. Legend Auctions can handle it. Your coins will always be seen by the strongest PROVEN group of buyers. With only 500 lots per sale, our sales are mini events!

Contact Greg Cohen at Legend Rare Coin Auctions to consign today! Space is limited for our May sale, and we will reject coins that do not meet quality standards (such as cleaned or messed with coins) or have ridiculous reserves. generous finders fees and cash advances no problem!

Legend auctions will have a table at the Dallas Mid Winter Show.

We look forward to working with you!
