Collectors, to a degree, seemed to have turned their mindsets to the holidays. Across the board, we see and hear things are quiet. In our VERY STRONG OPINION, this is only the quiet before the storm. We do know if you put up something really sexy—like the 10C 1891 PCGS PR68 Cameo that we posted after it was sold (we had MULTIPLE serious inquiries). It is our STRONG OPINION 2025 will be a blockbuster year for rare coins. The FUN show and its auctions will see explosive value growth for the few coins that appear. Be prepared!
We believe there are enough people who still have that coin-collecting bug and are ready to buy now. Because of that, we will be posting our NEWPS Wednesday or Thursday of next week vs. Friday. These will be our LAST NEWPS of 2024. We also will be reducing some prices on coins we’ve had a while. So stay tuned!
BREAKING NEWS:
We are wrong! When coins pop up today, the buyers are there. Last night’s Heritage sale saw all the better true quality coins sell for strong numbers. We had to pay $41,000.00 all in for the 25C 1903 PCGS PR68 DC CAC. Other coins cost us a lot too. This market has longer legs than we thought!
Earlier in the day at the Stacks sale, we paid $41,000.00 for the 6th 1794 Gold Medal struck. There seemed to be multiple bidders on ALL coins! Lot 1—which we were nervous bidding $150,000.00 hammer for—sold for $440,000.00!
