LEGEND NUMISMATICS BUYS THE 10C 1894-S PCGS PR65+ CAC
To start off what would be a record $3,000,000.00 week in sales, Legend Numismatics bought the fabulous 10C 1894-S Eliasberg-Miller coin. We happily paid $1,800,000.00 (it sold in Miller for $1,440,000.00 12/2020) and immediately placed it with our partner Bruce Morelan. We did NOT buy it with him in mind. In fact, John Albanese had called us and told us he and Kevin Lipton had just bought it and we jumped all over it. The deal took less then five minutes to complete! We had just finished a high grade Barber Proof 10C set and was hoping that customer would go for it. For personal reasons it was just bad timing. Now, Bruce has the ultimate trifecta-$ 1804 Dexter Dollar-probably the prettiest of them all, the 5C 1913 PCGS PR66 Eliasberg-the finest known, and now this marvelous 1894-S 10C. It is also our VERY strong opinion this particular 1894-S 10C is better then a 65+. Congrats Bruce!
What else did we sell? EVERYTHING GOLD of course. We sold a $10 1907 WE PCGS MS67 CAC, a $20 1909 PCGS PR66 CAC, and a $20 1920 PCGS MS65 (you read that right) to name just a few items. We also had a conga line on our $1 1795 PCGS AU53 CAC. That coin certainly was popular! Same thing with the 1934-S $1.00 PCGS MS66 CAC. Better coins sold strong off our web site. In fact it seems the more coins we post, the more we sell. Shhhh, this is supposed to be the “dead zone” of post ANA.
We’re sure things will settle down. However, there is still a HUGE lack of coins in the marketplace. Without any major exciting auctions, people will go back into hibernation probably until FUN Baltimore or FUN. BUT break out an exciting deal-and collectors will line up for the coins. Hopefully our Regency Auction 48 will excite many people.
Last weeks amazing Regency 47 Sale still has us pinching our selves. What a sale! Record prices were set all over the place. There were hundreds of successful bidders and hundreds of thousands of eye balls. Obviously, the collecting public wants even more coins-especially NICE coins! This is all hard proof as to what is going on in the market. HOWEVER, NOT all areas are selling well. Most Half Cents, Large Cents, Nickel (all types), Bust Quarters, even some Gold Dollars (the ONLY area of gold with slight weakness). We are not in a full bull market even though at the top levels it may seem like it.
It is still our strong opinion if you are making good money sell into it. Or if you have lagging dupes-sell. It is not wise to hold the stuff for a potential trade on a “cash” coin-unless its 100% liquid like Saints. We re seeing some movement in this area. Smart moves people!

We have over $500,000.00 of stunning NEWPS this week. Have not been able to say that in the past 2 years too often. We stepped up and bought a few of the Chicago Collection Bust Halves plus a MONSTER $20 1850 PCGS MS62+ CAC (its actually a Cameo). Highlights include:

Out of the blue, a long time customer came in our offices with his “2nd” box of 20 for us to sell. He felt it was time and agreed about selling into the market. We say his second box of 20 because he kept the really off the wall monster stuff. The coins he gave us absolutely qualified as monsters too. This is the kind of group we live for! ALL of the coins were sold by us to this collector years ago. You will see several in next weeks offering. Stay tuned!

Our REGENCY 48 sale to be held in San Diego at the PCGS Invitational in October is now a TWO DAY Sale. We will be having an exclusive Half Dollar Day.
