We had the right coins to offer this past week. Although we had only 3 NEWPS, we sold them all by Monday—with multiple inquiries about the $5 1839-D. Add Monday’s other sales, and we were easily over $125,000.00! Great way to start the week. Our Coins of the Week email, featuring two toned Northern Lights coins, not only sold out within minutes, but we also received far more inquiries than we had anticipated.
We continue to be perplexed as to why some of the great coins we have in our inventory remain unsold. The $5 1805 PCGS MS64+ CAC deserves a great home. So does the vividly toned 5C 1884 CACG PR67 Cameo, and we believe there certainly isn’t a price ceiling. That’s how the market rolls. Hit or miss.
Right now, we are almost fully back to “if it’s gold, it’s sold.” We cannot keep generic MS 65’s in stock. We cannot find many of the generics we want to buy today, even as we are making higher bids (PCGS CAC ONLY). Better gold is selling strong again. However, be aware if you have a coin that has been cleaned or messed with; these items are still worth less than cents on a dollar. Quality is still all the rage.
We highly suggest playing gold by building a Type set or buying MS 65 CAC Gold and/or MS 66 Saints (we have none of them in stock). We think $5 libs in MS65 have fallen too cheap. You can easily build a pre-1900-1908 set (of which we do have one or two). There are so many different ways to safely play gold right now.
Remember, the market’s pandemic surge is now firmly over. Most prices have settled down by 10-20% since the peak in 2021-2022. The hardest-hit categories appear to be nickels and silver types. Morgans are down, but they are highly in demand today. Prices for those have not fully recovered, but they are inching up. Today, it is a buyer’s market. Two weeks ago, as detailed in our Market Report, we outlined our beliefs about where we believe coins are headed (off the market). In our opinion, buying what you can now should put you in a good position for value growth. If you’re selling, do not be surprised to hear your coins have gone down a bit (especially if you bought them in 2021-2022).

If you have any questions or wish to order, please email us at legend@legendcoin.com. We do not check our phone messages until 9 AM Mondays.
