WANT TO OWN GREAT COINS?
Today, the only way to own great coins is to pay strong premiums. Otherwise, you will not own them.
We represented several customers during the Heritage Long Beach Sale. Three coins in particular: 1898 Quarter PCGS PR68DCAM CAC, a killer 1872 Dollar PCGS PR65DCAM CAC and a 1916 Walker PCGS MS67 CAC. Legend had placed all 3 coins decades ago. Going into the sale we thought Type coins were a little weak. Not! We underbid all 3! The Quarter sold for $28,800.00, we were heart broken we lost the Dollar at $40,800.00, and the MS67 Walker we underbid at $63,000.00 which is a remarkable price in any market!
Overall, we were direct underbidders on $1,400,000.00 worth of coins. We only managed to spend just over $500,000.00.
Currently, we feel there is another unexpected spike up in the market. Our buying is frustrated by the apparent strong demand for better coins. We do our best to stay in touch with collectors and dealers in case anything “juicy” pops up. Legend has never been afraid to step us for the “best coins”. These days most of the neat coins/collections end up in auction. We all know how competitive auctions can be.
Today, the best advice we can give is to ” buy the BEST quality for the grade you can afford and hold”. In our opinion, Type sets, in any metal, seems to be the best route to building a nice collection ( that can be completed ). Do not hesitate to ask us for help or suggestions.

This week our NEWPS consist of several Gem collector coins. Including a 1934 and 1935 Peace Dollar PCGS MS66+ CAC. Worth a look, we haven’t had many Peace Dollars in awhile!
