PAUL ALLENS ART COLLECTION BROKE ALL RECORDS
Why do we mention this? Because it shows just how much money there is out there and the fact it is still being spent on quality items. We think you should read this article in full about the sale: Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen’s art collection sells for $1.5 billion (cnbc.com) You’ll see that many paintings realized incredible sums of money. Sums that even a FUN or ANA Auction (both sales included) in total does not equal. While we shake our heads in amazement when any coin sells for over $1 million or a record price, we realize just how small the coin market is. The potential for coins is really unlimited. Quality will always rise to the top.
There are so many coins we do not understand why they are so cheap. Especially the coins with pops of less than 5 usually in higher grades. It is our strong opinion that the rare coin market is due for at least a 25% pop up next year (assuming the stars align right). The money is out there. Even cheaper coins (below $10,000.00) in outstanding conditions should enjoy a pop in value next year too.
Here is a thought, there were 5 paintings that sold for MORE then $100 million each in the Paul Allen Sale. Could you imagine maybe if one day even half of that money came into coins? We’re already dry of nice coins on the market. This would double all rare coins values overnight. We’ve already had a few whales sneak in (Hansen, long time collector Tryannt, and the new kid-Mr Elite). They have changed values their respective areas forever. Plus, they seem to be in for the long haul. We maybe dreaming about coins rising to half the value of art, but never say never!

Things turned quiet again in the coin market. There are no major shows until FUN in January. Major buyers look for the big stuff in auctions and tend to sleep until they pop up. There is still a major lack of coins to be found. If you want overpriced stuff, that’s always available.
Wait for the right coin to surface. If it does, BUY IT NOW. Prices will be cheaper today then after January. We specially recommend buying gold. The best thing you can do is build a GEM Gold Type set and hold. Funny thing, you can’t find one of the commonest gold widgets today-a GEM MS65 High Relief. We still recommend building a gold Type set-and make it PCGS CAC ONLY (for your protection).
Net result of the art sales: WE ARE BULLISH ON THE COIN MARKET!
As of this writing, gold popped up $40.00. If it has further risen within the upcoming days-watch out-ALL coins could light up sooner than expected. Sometimes sitting on the sidelines can cause serious missed opportunities. Back in 2020 when there was the Brent Pogue sale, when the market was heading towards total misery. Covid was causing, massive lock downs and people were panicking. Yet the sale took place. EVERY better gold coin that was purchased out of the sale had risen in value as much as 50% over the next 2 years. The buyers are all in real profit positions on most coins. Example, we paid $120,000.00 for a G $1 1855 PCGS MS67+ CAC. One just sold 08./2022 for $180,000.00. And in between in 2021, one brought $156,000.00. We paid $650,000.00 in the aftermarket for the $10 1907 Rolled Edge $10 PCGS MS67 CAC. The most recent sale of one was 04/2022 for $1,140,000.00! If you have the money, the BEST time to buy is today, when the market is quiet. You will do much better then be involved in a feeding frenzy.
